After a week of particularly depressing stories on budget cuts, we think it’s time for a pick-me-up. Here are a few bright spots to help you usher in the weekend with a smile.

1.  Enjoy the month of May in the Columbia River Gorge during their first Arts & Culture Discover Month - check here for the schedule of events.

2. If you’re in the Portland area, come out tomorrow for the 7th Annual World Laughter Day Celebration - downtown Waterfront Park.

3. For those of you who love it, here’s the Oregonian’s collection of photos from the royal wedding.

4. For those of you who are sick of it, here’s a wedding-related (but not royal-wedding-related) treat.

Here's a sunny thing. Next Saturday the 14th, the Lake Oswego School District Foundation will celebrate its 25th anniversary. The LOSDF is a nonprofit on a shoestring budget which raises money to put more teachers in our district's classrooms. The celebration will be held at the Lake Oswego Farmer's market.
