Halloween Comes Early: Who's Behind the Deceptive "Women's Voters Guide"?

SHARE:

Did you receive a mailing this weekend that looked like this?--->

Wondering who it’s from? No, it’s not the League of Women Voters, nor is it from any group that works on women’s issues.  It’s actually from a Republican-aligned group called the Oregon Transformation Project, which is almost entirely funded by money from Stimson Lumber.

How closely aligned are Oregon Transformation Project and the Oregon Republican Party? It’s co-chaired by Allen Alley, chair of the Oregon GOP, and Rep. Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point). Its political action committee is run by Rob Kremer, the treasurer of the Oregon Republican Party. None of them are well known as champions on women’s issues.

Oregon Transformation Project has dumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into GOP candidate races.

So it should come as no surprise that most of the “Women’s Voters Guide” endorsements are for Republicans (including Mitt Romney, Knute Buehler, and Bruce Starr), with a handful of token Democratic endorsements in seats that are safe for the Dems or are unopposed.

It’s a pink-tinted disguise designed to give Republican candidates a boost in key races. If Twitter is any indication, it appears this trick is backfiring.

Did you receive one of these mailers? Respond in the comment section and let us know where in the state you’re located. It’ll help us get a sense of just how widespread it was mailed. We’d love to hear what your reaction was upon receiving it, too.

UPDATE: Looks like Allen Alley has now resigned from the Oregon Transformation Project.

Just the fact that they think they need to tell women how to vote is an insult. Then when they start off endorsing the anti-women agenda you have to realize a serious mistake has been made.

And why is Gene Whisnant, ALEC champion, running uncontested? This smells like GOP shenanigans. We need a write-in candidate that might make a last dash-black-horse win to keep this guy out of office !

it's written with the same font as Oregon Right to Life flyers (don't ask me how i know that)

I'm from Beaverton and I tore up mine as soon as I saw that it wanted me to vote for Romney.

Received one at my post office box in Lake Oswego . That is the address to which my ballot is sent, though my legal residence is I l in West Linn

My "let's tell the women how to vote because they can't figure it out on their own"flyer arrived yesterday in Coos Bay. What an insult!
This is a huge waste of money. I think of all the good one could do for the poor with those funds; this isn't it! We need to curb campaign financing and while we are at it, shorten the length of time one can campaign, no out of state funding plus we need openess of where the money really originates.
Voters guide, really???

Merriwood

Was this sent only to registered Democrats?

Waldport. Recycled it, hope it has a better life next time around.

Two more in Newport-area

I got one in Hillsboro. As soon as I saw that five WOMEN had endorsed Mitt Romney, even at 3-2, I knew something was fishy. -Kat

I got one in Lake Oswego!

Got one in Bend (97701). It was good for one thing, It started a nice warm fire in my fireplace. Oh, the deceit!

Got one in Forest Grove as well. Even my first time voting, 18 year old daughter saw through it at one glance.

Received Saturday in Lake Oswego. Immediately was suspicious, and laughed out loud at some of the descriptions of the "qualifications" of the panel of women making the endorsements. One supposedly doesn't read much, and votes by intuition.

Showed up in Bend yesterday. Glad to hear that some of the people behind it have had to resign.

Got one too...thought it was odd! Bend, 97702

Got one in Sandy as did most of the Democrats I know. They have so much money to do this kind of thing. Sickening.

Got one in Troutdale. I thought I misread it, but it looks like they endorsed the D in my house district (not senate).

Got one in Bend. I too smelled a rat right away. I thought the pink accents were pretty stupid. How old do they think I am? 6?

I will just vote for "JESUS CHRIST" in all the write-in section(s) of my ballot.....

"It's a lot easier that listening to a bunch of mudslinging, back-stabbing, lying, scandalous, larceny-hearted & manipulative bunch of con-artist that make Kedaffi look like Mickie Mouse." And Y'all catch yourself trying to wanna run this Country? "SHAME ON YOU!"

I received one in Aloha (97006 zip code). I saw Romney as the choice for President and tossed it in the circular file.

i did the same!!

I have not YET receive one of these fake propagandists pamphlets...

Nevertheless, nonetheless, and yet & still; I plan to choose the "LORD JESUS CHRIST" over everybody who has stepped-up to the plate to offer his/her plan for this Country by exercising my rights as a voter and using the "WRITE-IN" section for my choice in this here election.

I can not possibly tolerate any more lying lips with words & rhetoric's... any further mud-slinging, back-stabbing tactics nor outrageous money mogul manipulation(s) of this county's 'HARD-WORKING' citizens! (Who are, by the way, the ones who have made it possible for this Nation to be both available & viable for/to the WHOLE WORLD).... Not the RICH-MAN with his/her pompous MONEY!

REMEMBER FOLKS... "GOD IS STILL SITTING ON THE THRONE!"
(Just not for long.... We are surly running out of time people!!!)

Get a REVELATION people....... Better YET..... "READ IT!"

Sincerely,
Concerned for the souls of this Nation & Devoted 2 Christ...

Our Choices are set before us....THE" POWERS THAT WERE" DEPEND ON US GIVING UP THE GOOD FIGHT.

WE MUST PERSEVERE FOR ONE ANOTHER.

THE REPUBLICAN AGENDA COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WHEN ONE PERSON THROWS THEIR VOTE TO THE WIND....

OR, in your case to the HEAVENS.....Please.....Do not lose the FAITH.... FAITH IN A BETTER WORLD....A BETTER PLACE HERE ON EARTH.

PRESIDENT OBAMA MAY NOT BE OUR SAVIOUR, but he is DOING WHAT HE CAN against all odds......He is set against THE CORPORATE BANKERS who really run the show........

NEVER FORGET......The WORLD....THE EARTH HERSELF ....depends upon YOU!!!!! The FORCE FIELD OR PRAYERS OF ONE LIGHT WORKER

Is GREATER BY 1000's of percentages.......to that of the ones who work in the depths of the darkness of evil.....

YES, DO THE WORK OF JESUS......CAST OUT THE BANKERS AND THE THIEVES....

PLEASE DO NOT CAST YOUR VOTE TO THE HEAVENS......WE ARE STILL HERE ON EARTH...

CHANGE TAKES TIME.......THIS FIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE ANTIQUITY......WE ARE THE VICTORS!!!

THIS IS OUR TIME!!!! THE REPUBLICAN RIGHT WINGERS ARE SCARED AND CHEATING ON THE VOTE EVERYWHERE IN THIS GREAT NATION....

DON'T LET THEM CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR VOTE.....

Thanks...
And I gotcha!
"It's all good in God's hood...
And it can only get greater, later..."

God Bless you!

Amen!

Got one in Toledo Oregon - just inland from Newport. Threw it away - never read it.

Got one in SW Portland, Wash. County, 97225.

We got one too, in Newport.

Now I have to ask a question? Is this an Oregon only phenomenon, or is it also happening in other states?

Love the "Woman" font

Got one in Oregon City.

WOW, I got one...read it over..and thought this sounds mostly republican... I thought it would be unbiased but after reading I was pretty sure it was from the republican party. I hope people really look at the issues in the voters phamplet and dont just go by the other card mailings because the full story is never there.

It wasn't unbiased because it had Republican endorsements? So if it had all D endorsements it would have been unbiased? Hilarious

I hale from Ontario, Oregon. I don't think there was wide distribution over on this far eastern side of Oregon. Probably because the folks here are predominantly republican. It can be lonely being a democrat in Eastern Oregon.

I'm a male voter in Tualatin & my female roommate received one of these the other day... went straight to recycling after an amused chuckle upon seeing whom the recommendations were for... none of them were for candidates I would vote for if I was a woman & certainly won't vote for them as a male who respects women either.

We live in the Stafford area between Wilsonville and Lake Oswego and got one several days ago. It looked transparently like a clumsy attempt to fool some folks into thinking it was bipartisan and pro-women, but very clearly, as seen by simply perusing the endorsements, most of which were for Republican men (and a few women, or by reading the descriptions of the five bipartisan reviewers, none of whom sounded like anywhere close to a Democratic voter, it is a fraud.

Received this on Saturday in Milwaukie. Immediately posted a photo to FB. Read the fine print Ladies!
Gwenn Laubach Alvarez

oh I got it and lined my cat box with it .. just the right place for it...

I received it on Saturday and immediately recycled it. West Linn.

Received in Milwaukie - tossed immediately. Highly resent the manipulation tactics.

I got mine and it's in a BINDER now --- whoop whoop....so glad, I really needed some random anonymous group to give poor little me advice on how I should vote...

Got one. Sw pdx, 97225.

Got it in the mail, and got a good laugh out of it. Who do they think they kidding?

I received one in Shedd, OR 97377. I thought the Women Voters in the corner resembled the Women for Obama bumper sticker. I looked it over and saw way more Republicans recommended than Democrats and threw it in the garbage. I always vote Democrat. Anyone that would associate themselves with the Republican party cannot possibly share any of the views I value and vote with.

Typical Republican party. They believe women are stupid and easily manipulated. I guess after the vote we will see if they are right or sorely mistaken.

I received one in the mail probably over the weekend at my South Beach, Or. 97366 address

Both Allen Alley and his wife Debi are pro-choice and have given lots of money to democrats over the years... I wouldn't exactly say he is not a champion of women's issues... Do your own research

I got this garbage on Saturday. I live in Tualatin.

I smelled a rat a mile away when I glanced over it and saw the endorsement for Beuhler...who is pro life...
Fuggedaboutit!
I live in Aloha,97007.

Pro life? Good! I'm voting for him! I don't believe in murdering babies!

All this and Allen Ally, Republican Party Chair, resigned from the project because it was endorsing Democrats. Too funny
