Portland Public Schools releases details of their budget, including a picture of what jobs and programs will be saved if voters approve the May bond and levy. Without the levy, the district expects to have to layoff around 10 percent of teaching staff at most schools.

In Lake Oswego, the plan is to close one-third of their elementary schools in response to the budget crisis, and Southern Oregon newspapers illustrate how budget cuts will impact low-income seniors and the people who care for them.
